We are very pleased to announce the appointment of Revd Mark Hayton as the new Vicar of Fleet. We do not have firm dates yet, but expect that Mark will move to Fleet during the summer and be inducted here in early September at the latest.
Mark started his working life as a Civil Servant in the Department of Health and was ordained in 1988 after training at St Stephen’s House in Oxford. He has ministered in various parts of the Canterbury Diocese since then – including a period of 13 years as Rector of Broadstairs. Since 2007, he has been Vicar of the Trinity Benefice in Folkestone – which covers three very diverse parishes – and since 2011 he has been Area Dean of Eltham, covering 21 parishes in all. He currently supervises a large ministry team and several benefice employees.
Mark is married to Pamela. They have one daughter, Madeleine, who is married to Rob and they have two little boys. The family also have a very elderly cat – Pepsi – who is aged 21!
Mark is a fan of Manchester United and Kent County Cricket club. He loves music of all kinds – classical, jazz, folk, rock, country etc. and enjoys both choral singing and playing the guitar.
We very much look forward to welcoming Mark and his family to Fleet in a few months’ time.
